Default Heatshield cutting for ETD problem

I have an Arc heatshield and an ETD. I have to cut the shield, but I'd like to make an easy access to removing it, instead of the normal hole cutting. So, I was wondering what you guys think of this cut. I'm not sure if it'll leak too much heat and thus defeating the purpose of even having a heat shield.

If you do that, I would bet it would rattle like a big dog.

But to do it, drill the hole and then saw from the edge to the hole. That will give you the slot you want.

What would make it rattle? There's no mounting point around there anyway.

So no one knows anything about the heat passing through issue?

It's on the lower end so it will let heat "convect/radiate" over. With that said the lower section is closer to the header so yeah heat will pass through

I could ghettoly tape alu foil where the slotted area without the ETD will be for easy access. Doesn't seem like anyone has an answer to if the slot will create a heat issue. To my understanding, it's the fusebox being right there that's of concern and not the other issues related to removing a heatshield.

it will heat rattle like an S.O.B. It may even set off the knock sensor You can add a support brace across the slot that would keep it from rattling. You can attach it with bolts & wing nuts, this would make it easy to remove.

it doesn't really matter if the heat goes thru there...

the primary reason honda made heat shield there it's due to JDM RHD master brake& fluid. In japan, master brake cylinder & fluid is located right above the header. so they made the heat shield. a lot of s2k here, removed heat shield after installing ETD and stuff..

if your concerning about the heat, don't worry about. i recommended drill cuz, it'll look cleaner/better.
