managed to have them take a few dollars off the "repair cost". Just got my car towed back home last night. I was going to start it up and record the noise, but first I opened the hood and found this...

Looks like the forgot to put back the spark plug cover and a couple bolts for the coilpacks. I am not pleased. I called up the service manager and they are looking for them. Anyway as soon as I those parts put back on I'll start it up and record the sound its making. Also, I am in Jacksonville

I would go ape-sh**.... if they left off a coil pack bolt. That's a really quick way to destroy a motor.

Dealers your pathetic work is speaking for itself. Anyone reading this, if you love wasting money AND getting the worst excuse in the world for repairs, by all means stop on in.

So finally got the coilpack bolts and spark plug cover back. Put them back on and started it up. And this is the said "new noise" with the valve job completed and new timing chain by the honda dealership... Thoughts?

Were the new valves supposedly adjusted?

Ugh! That sounds like some real bad stuff happening in the bottom end man. I would stay the hell away from that dealership and find a reputable shop. They replaced a bunch of damn expensive stuff that likely wasn't broken, on your dime!!

So the dealership heard the noise, and diagnosed it to the head. Then after that didn't work, they diagnosed it to the bottom end. Did you ask how they missed that the noise was really coming from the bottom end?

Was there really a bent valve, or did they just make that up when it turned out there was nothing wrong with it.

This is why you should always ask for the old parts back, up front before the work. If you ask, they have to do so by law, and if they don't, you don't have to pay. You can always leave them behind after you look them over. But asking for the parts puts them on notice.
