I soaked the ring in nearly boiling water for a minute but I could still not get it on. =( And I'm not being a wuss about it either...

Can someone with the kit check the numbers embossed on the part? I want to compare and see if I have the right part. The numbers and letters on my ring don't match the corresponding part number in the instructions... but it doesn't look like a part number at all..

Since my kit is installed I can't say what the part number is. This might sound stupid but are you installing it the proper way, not backwards? If I remember right there is only one way to install that peice.

Yes, I'm putting it on the right way. I fit the filter onto the adapter just fine, but its the other end that's too tight for the plastic intake pipe... I will call and make sure with K&N Monday to make sure I have the right part.. thanks for you help thus far...

I have the same problem ... it just goes half way and there is nothing i could do to make it cover that hole!!! to prevent it to suck hot air from the engine i covered the hole with a black plastic bag material ( cut the grocery plastic bag to the size of the hole). Atleast i'm safe from hot air .....

the rubber sleeve is not supposed to cover the hole in the metal box. There is some freeplay between the box and the pipe so if you hit a bump or something it doesn't rattle. The amount of air it sucks through that little space is not enough to be of any concern.
