Default help identifying noise. video!

Hi everybody,

I am hoping you can help me out in diagnosing a rattle/grinding sound I get when I lift off the throttle.

The noise ONLY happens when I lift off the throttle and the engine is slowing the car.
Throwing it into neutral or getting back on the throttle even a tiny bit makes it go away.

In the video, you can hear it at the following times: 8, 25, 37, 40 onwards you can really hear it as I get on and off the throttle.
(sorry about the buzzing at the 15 -24 second range. that was shift knob rattling against phone) Thanks!

it feels like the sound is coming from the front but i will take a look

its an 04 with around 80k. stock except for pss9 coilovers and i am guessing the previous owner put in an aftermaket clutch and possibly flywheel.

maybe this is clutchbuzz?

I have an ACT clutch, PP and Flywheel. It does sound like clutch buzz to me but again I am trying to diagnose off of a video. Does the car make any noise at idle in neutral? And if it does, if you press the clutch in does it go away?

Is there any way you can contact the previous owner and ask if he installed an aftermarket clutch?

That is clutch buzz 100%, especially if you used any other disc than oem. Guaranteed.

in the future ACT PP + oem disc.

Thanks Billman.

in this diagram the friction disc (#2) is what is making that noise?

I think i might go with a full OEM AP2 setup (maybe AP1 flywheel) unless you think that the wrong move?
