Default HELP! In need expert advice !

This morning, on my way back home from the Pasadena courthouse,(extending my traffic ticket) i thought of having a little fun so i decided to gun it while entering the freeway. I shifted at 8.5k in first gearand while i was in the second gear the car started "kangaroo." I gave the car a little gas and it seemed the car could not drive over 3k rpm! i pulled over to the side of the highway restarted the car and the engine check light turned on and i drove the car back home locally. While driving home i was experiencing extremely low idling

What do you guys think is the problem?
What should be my next best step to take?

Thanks for looking!

Yea first get the codes. I would guess a misfire of some sort. Have you ever had your retainers replaced, or checked? I notice its a my00 so it may be time for a retainer to fail which could be ugly.

I will check wire that plugs to coil pack first. Sounds like misfire.

I think thats the cam position sensor. Its located on the driver side of the valve cover near the firewall, like right below the oil cap. If I remember there are two of them, and the other one is on top of the valve cover by the wires of your coil packs go by on the back also. First make sure its all plugged in well and everything. If its all plugged in nicely come back and let us know.

Had a similar problem in my GTO. My headers burnt a hole through one of my spark plug wires. a simple fix if its anything like that.

^ Yeah these cars are alot different still. His CEL says its one of those sensors, and will cause the car to only go to 3k rpm's. So He knows what it is since I just said it above.
