Default help top won'tgo up!

my car is 2 weeks old and the top won't go up. I installed a new shift boot that I got from Rick's. (love it!) Which I have done before and all the switches are tight and connected properly yet the roof wont go up! I have the brake on and everything worked before. It is a 2007 model and I had the roof up once since I bought the car so I know it works. Anyone have any ideas? I did the boot install with everything off so I can't see how a fuse was blown although I did check them both under the hood and under the dash. Help! Anyone?

After you installed the shift boot, did you test to see that the switches were actually working? Maybe it is a loose connection?

I would recheck the connections under the center console. Something must have came loose during your shift boot install.

When you pull up the handbrake, does the "brake" light up on your dash?

brake light works and the light on the rear defroster switch comes on. the roof switch is connected as I checked it 4 times and it is tight. The plugs only go in one way so I know they are in correctly. The only thing is under the hood the big fuses are marked right roof motor and left roof motor and they are 20 amp fuses but I can't tell if they are blown. I have an appointment at the dealer but of course they can't take me until Monday and I don't want to get stuck with my roof down! It must be something really simple that I am overlooking that is way I am reaching out.

Will the top go down still? I know it's down already, but when you push the switch down does the top motion down further under the pressure of the motors?

You can always follow the procedure in the manual to manually raise your top and not worry about security or getting caught with your top off

Make sure you didn't swap the plugs for the top switch and the hazard switch

Yep. Push the hazard button and make sure your lights flash. Also, check the fuse panel under the dash to see if the 'wiper' fuse is blown. If it is, your top won't go up.

Happened to me once... a small piece of packaging had slipped through the console and fouled the brake switch...

wow good to know.
i wouldn't want my softtop down when i'm not driving.

although i do see many people who leave their softtop down unattended in park lots..
i never understood how they could do that?
rain? birdshit? people stealing? or egging the car? countless possibilities of bad things happening.
i'm sure none of us S drivers do that!
