Default Help whats wrong with my new car?

Hey Guys,

Just got my 2002 s2000 and have been driving it without a problem until tonight. I had been driving it normally for a minute or so (wasn't fully warmed up) but I decided to punch it in 2nd gear... at about 6000 rpms it felt like I hit a rev limiter or fuel cut of some kind the car just kinda bucked and stopped accelerating with a slight noise. Car still runs fine and was able to punch it to redline without a problem after that.

Is this due to the map sensor TSB or is this something else?

Thanks,

Tom

Just checked oil, looked a little low, is that the problem? Did I do any damage?

The car is fine, that limiter is there to protect your engine. You are not supposed to rev that high until your engine is warm.

Lesson learned, I'll also make sure to give it some more oil

No, it's the VTEC rev limiter. Has to do with the VTEC not engaging while the engine's not up to operating temp. Remember, oil doesn't warm up as fast as the coolant (3 bars = full warm engine coolant). But oil warms up later.

nothing is wrong with your car. that's simply the vtec cut off, it wont allow you to go over 6k if your engine isn't warm enough. scary isn't it?

I hate that feeling. You're waiting for VTEC to kick you in the ass and instead it punches you in the stomach.
