Default here's a question i already know the answer to

Will a passenger side driveshaft work for the driver side? Re-manufactured driver side driveshafts are now hard to come by and the FEQ one i had installed is garbage. And brand new OEM driveshafts are ridiculously expensive.

Nope, one side is longer than the other.

figured as much. can you (or anyone else for that matter) recommend something other than FEQ and OEM as an alternative?

yeah, i've been looking there and i've having a hard time deciding from those. The one's made by OPParts look like they have the same shaft thickness as the FEQ's, which I think is why they're a vibraty mess. You wouldn't happen to have any experience with the Driveshaft Shop Level 0, would you?

ok, here's an update. I bought a used driveshaft from ebay to replace this, and one of the VC joints is definitely bad (clicking when turning), so i'm screwed there. Here's what I have now:

1. The ebay used OEM driveshaft that is now on the car with a bad CV joint
2. The FEQ driveshaft that I removed, which does seem to have good CV joints, but has a thinner axle shaft and causes vibrations during acceleration.
3. Another remanufactured OEM driveshaft. It worked fine for about a year, then the CV boot clamp on the inner joint came undone, causing the grease to spill out and that joint to go bad.

What i'm wondering is if I can replace the circular things that make up the inner CV joint, or maybe swap the inner joint from the FEQ driveshaft to the OEM one? I made a video with more info.

You can likely swap parts around to make a good axle.

Here's the key, USE THE LARGE DIAMETER STOCK HOLLOW AXLE TUBE. DO NOT use any axle that is a small solid shaft. It will vibrate horribly and your S2000 will feel very un-smooth and very cheap. you will not be happy.

I have installed these type (small solid shaft) BRAND NEW out of the box. The vibration and shaking they cause is completely unacceptable.

I can get good oem axles if you guys are having trouble.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way with the FEQ driveshaft! I'll see if I can swap the rollers from the FEQ driveshaft to the OEM spider. Hopefully that'll work, since I'm not sure how to remove the entire joint. I'll keep everyone updated.

and success! as it turns out, the rollers for the oem joint and the feq joint aren't swappable, but the joints themselves are. and it was actually fairly easy to remove the joint, just pop off the snap ring and pull (or tap lightly with a hammer in the case of the feq joint). no more shakes finally. also, I was lucky enough to see a thread here regarding the phasing between the inner and outer joints and making sure that they line up properly.

now we know for future reference. thanks for the help all!
