Default Hondata settings for exhaust setup

Hi,

I have a 2007 stock setup.

I recently installed a Berk 63.5mm high flow cat and a revel touring exhaust. I'm getting the engine light as expected. I have read that this setup might have leaned up the system a tad.

I was thinking of getting the hondata flashpro to clear the engine code and richen up the fuel mixture. This setup has to have been done a thousand times before. Does anyone have settings for a tune that will prevent the engine light coming on?

Thanks in advance.

What CEL code are you getting? Enriching the fuel mixture is only gonna fix your CEL if you have a CEL for the mixture being too lean.

The CEL is almost for sure a P0420 (catalyst efficiency) because you installed a HFC.

No...you probably haven't leaned it out to the point of setting a CEL.

Check the code before doing something to try and fix it.

Of course I will check the CEL code first. I'm just going off what I have read about installing an HFC and it throwing a code. Would there be any other suggestions for fixing a CEL if indeed it is the P0420 you mentioned?

Yep, the Hondata can be set to ignore the 2nd O2 sensor's signal. I'm not sure exactly how, though, sorry.

Just put a cell fix extension on the hfc as it works.

06+ runs a little lean from the factory. I highly recommend a flashpro tune since you installed the HFC as that will lean it out a bit more as it's breathing better. Disabling the secondary o2 sensor is easy in the software.

If you get a hfc and fp, but merely disable o2 sensor and richen mixture a bit, you're missing out on the most accessible performance mod that'll actually make a real difference with this car.

Get a professional tune that lowers vtec rpm. You'll significantly improve midrange. Just driving around vtec will be same as now but full throttle it'll engage at the lower rpm. Typically under 4k rpm.

Another benefit is a much wider power band. Stock, ap2 can be a challenge to stay in vtec between shifts. You won't have that issue with vtec lowered.

You can get a remote road tune. No need to go to a dyno or to a shop. They send you a series of tunes via email, and you send them logs of the results.

So for a few hundred dollars more (depending on tuner) than cost of fp and hfc, you can have the only real way to improve engine performance without going big (FI, nitrous, itb, etc).

My FlashPro road tuned 2006 VTEC is lowered to 3600rpm and completely transforms the car into what it should have been. Not merely straight line acceleration (which is so fast in the lower gears I had to install an audible red line alarm to stay off the rev limiter) but in spirited back road driving where I can run in 3d and 4th gears and engage VTEC with the gas pedal as needed.

All really good feedback and much appreciated. It definitely looks like the first step is to order a Hondata Flashpro. @Car Analogy Is there a place in particular you can recommend to get a remote tune?
