Default hood closing problem with spoon snorkle

hi all,

i've just installed my new Spoon snorkle and i'm very happy with it - pick-up/throttl response seems to have improved plus it gives a nice throaty noise - not anywhere near as loud as an injen or aem but nice in a subtle way - lets you know it's there!

anyway, one wee problem is that the hood no longer closes when dropping it - i have to push it down to close it - took it to my honda dealer and a mechanic had a look and said it's ok just to push it down but i was wondering if anyone had any tips?

i've tried sliding the rubber cover further down the arm of the hood support arm thing and pushing the bit that the hood support arm clicks into down a bit but it didn't help.

at teh end of the day it's no big deal but it would be nice to be able to just close it by dropping it.

cheers,
billy

Try adjusting the hood catch mechanism (on the cross member) up a bit.

adjust the hood latch - there are 3 bolts - very easy.

Also, adjust the height of the rubber bumpers that are around the edge of the under-hood area. Just turn them counter clockwise to raise them a bit.

DO NOT push the hood down to close it. Its aluminium and could dent.

I had the same problem - I just lift the hood about a foot more before release, and it closes every time.

are you not worried that you'll crack the snorkle? that's what i'm worried about!

it's beginning to really annoy me now - the snorkle is marking the underside of the hood and the snorkle itself is getting marked - i also think that the snorkle has cracked slightly at the thinnest point of it - not cracked with a hole but cracked with little lines on it - i assume this is from me trying to close the hood by dropping it.

i also tried raising the two rubber supports that the hood drops onto a bit by turning them tonight but then the alarm wouldn't set properly - it would beep once when i activated it - so i turned the rubber bits back down and the alarm went on fine.

i've still to try adjusting the latch up a bit - hope that works!

Stick some padded tape on the underside of your hood, then you won't damage the snorkle
