Default Horsepower=Torque

I remember learning that at some point in the Rev range, the Horsepower and Torque are equal to one another...don't remember exactly what point it is. I THINK it might be around 5K rpm. I do remember that this is no matter what car or engine. It also has nothing to do with peak Hp or Torque. It is just a point when they are equal to one another.

It is just above 5200 RPMs.

Exactly 5252 rpm. Now, on a turbo or supercharged car, it won't be the same.

With the units we use here in America, the formula is:

hp = torque * (rpm / 5252)

If you use ps, kW, nm or whatever, the exact number will be different but the formula will be the same.

Wow...I can't believe the responses to some of the posts on this site. I feel like we are somehow linked to NASA and their people are hooking it up with all the info, Thanks to all.

bone stock s2k dyno.

as noted above, it's at 5252, and if you look at a dyno with the same scale for the torque and power axes, you'll note that the lines cross at that point.

I think we all read the same article comparing an L98 Corvette to an LT1 Corvette. Same torque, but different HP numbers. In the article, the author mentions that on a blown car, the HP and Torque curves are different. This is why I assumed the "magic engine speed" would be different. I guess I was wrong. If someone has a link to that article, please post it, because I obviously could use some refreshing.

Thanks,
Barrett.

This is a dyno chart from a turbo charged Honda. Same scale makes the cross over at 5252rpm. Check out the lag on this graph.
