Default How to adjust a carbon trunk?

It's not really under the hood, its more like in the trunk

I removed 1 of the 2 springs. It's better now, but it still is pushing the lid up..
It sticking a bit out, on the side were the spring is pushing.. Some say to lay something heavy on it over night, or heat it up and placing something on it...

The passenger side is fine as you can see in the photo..

Its the driverside that is sticking out.

You shouldn't need to remove either spring. If it's sitting too high up, then it's because your trunk lid stoppers and latch that aren't adjusted properly.

This is an easy fix. I had a CF trunk and you do have to remove both springs. If you dont it will always look uneven and sit high. I dont even know if the Amuse CF trunk sits smooth with the springs in. I think those are out as well. Every CF trunk I have seen needs to have the springs removed or it will look off or look like its not made right. Thats just how they are. The big issue is NOT to put the CF trunk on with the springs on. You must take them off first before you install it. I have seen people rush to put on the trunk and they dont bother removing the springs and it ends up sitting about 1cm above the lines then I tell them to remove the springs and then they do (well its too late) the trunk will always now sit high even with springs out.

i had seibon cf trunk for a while,
it was not pushed out at all, i had it installed with springs too.

it's not an easy fix.

in fact you can't "fix" it-
it's how the trunks are made, and you have to find the right one.

i went through 3 cf trunks to find the decent fitting one.

So, you're saying that a CF trunk lid is so flexible that the spring tension causes it to bow? If this is the case, it doesn't sound to me like it's a very good mod to do.

I went through 2 and both had a perfect fit. However both did not fit right with the springs in. So yes its an easy fix IMO. Yes you can fix it. I dont wait had the same thing but he put his trunk on without taking off his springs and its now sits too high even with the springs out. You went through 3 when infact your first one should have been just fine. Its all about adjustment and experience with these things. I have seen Mastergrade trunks and their fitment is a little off even with the springs out. My friend actually put the trunk on with springs first then noticed it sat a good 2cm above the car line then I told him to take out his springs and he did and it lowered it 1cm. If he would have taken them out to begin with it would have sat IMO perfect. Thats 2 cases along with mine. What type of trunks did you have that had such bad fitment issues?

Its not. Its more of a bling factor than anything else. I got rid of mine already and went back to OEM +BYS spoiler. Much cleaner IMO. But you know me I get tired of things and switch every couple of months.

with the 2 springs on it was like a launcher! It popped open like crazy!
It was on both sides up. now only the driverside. I'll remove the spring tomorrow, I'm at work now...

Remember the downside with both springs out is when you click to open your trunk it will not pop up like the OEM trunk does. You have to manually lift it after you hear the click. Its not so bad. You get used to it. You do have to hold your trunk open as well since you have no springs/support. This you also will get used to.
Remember dont slam the trunk either once the springs are out. Just drop it about 5 cm away.

haha, okay, you are right.
PEOPLE, TAKE THE SPRINGS OFF BEFORE YOU SLAP ON YOUR NEW CF TRUNKS!

but i would like to point out one thing.
my first trunk, i took springs outta my car even before i touched it.
it came out like 1/2 incjes both sided.
it was custom made, and it was made wrong to begin with.
(i won't tell who made it, but a lot of s2ki.com people already know who it is.)

second one, did the same, then later i put the springs on just to see what happens.
it was fine. no flex, no bow, no pop-ups.

third one, i just threw it on with out taking the springs out.
it was fine.
perfect fit, no popping out, no flexes.

so i dunno.
may be it's the trunk, maybe it's the springs.
we'll see what Pharrel will say after he takes the springs out.
