Default How can I fix my soft top?

So my 2008's soft top is separating from the front and rear half's on the passenger side. The only thing stopping it looks to be the stitching because the glue is gone. The driver's side is fine.

How can I fix this? Or do I need a whole new soft top? I wish I could afford a Hard Top.. even with the pain in storing one and having to have help removing it or not being able to go top down on a nice day if I wanted to if it happened to be there, I could deal with all that. Oh well maybe in the future. For now I want to fix this or see if I just need to get a new top. I wouldn't be the one installing it, I would 100% be taking it to Honda or another shop to have this done.

This can most probably be sealed and repaired and you won't need to replace the whole top. I would look for a interior and convertible top specialist or body shop in your area. You can take it to the dealership too but they outsource these things so save yourself the money and find someone or maybe even ask the service manager at the dealership who they can recommend. One thing I will tell you for sure is be skeptical if anyone tells you the whole top needs to be replaced. Definitely get a second and third professional opinion. This issue should be able to be glued and sealed for about $200 or less.

Are you the original owner of the car? Looks like a misrouted strap from the first picture. If the strap is short due to misrouting the the is too much stress on the bond......I've installed several. In the first picture there is a white wear mark where the strap is riveted. Should not be there. Check the pictures in Texas-Northern top sticky by Clovis and/ or various post in the UTH FAQ top replacement threads.

Utah

P.S. I would replace it...with a Robbins.

Ill see what I can get as far as estimates on a repair. I have plugged small holes that have popped up already due to the wear spots on the frame though. I wouldnt mind replacing it but I know itll happen again.

I purchased the car used in the summer of 2010, When you say straps, do you mean the Modifry elastic straps? Ive replaced them twice since I have had the car, at around 20k miles each.
Is this the thread you are referring to? : https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/434...nt-info-costs/

IF I replace it I do plan to use a Robbins Vinyl top.

Well you could try this:

http://www.essentialhardware.com/pro...FaU5QgodhVQAZQ

It may add some more time to your top. I would raise top half down or unlached need some slack to bring two peices together. Pour small bead of glue in clean crack. Then the hard part bring seam together somehow and hold it there until good and dry. I think its worth a try. Let cure go slow take your time. I have patched smalls holes with this glue and a small cutout of material used as patch and glued it on inside yours is outside obviously. Have not tried a seam. After glueing seam you want to put small peice of fabric patch glued over your patch for extra strength. Just a small sliver to fill top of seam once your first patch is cured. Work in layers will take time. Then once that peice is dry/cured i would run a bead over that for good measure. Could take most of a warm day. after first glueing close the top top up. Then do last two patches. one application wont work fast wont work. Slow layers take your time. You may not need the sliver of fabric keep your bead of glue small this stuff drys fast read directions.

Then put your aerospace 303 on and keep it on monthly or after every wash.

Yes that's the Clovis thread. In either that one or one of the UTH stickies are very clear pics of how the bow straps are run. I don't have time to sort through them for you. Yes....the straps (Modifry or other). 10 to 1 yours are incorrectly installed which is the reason you have gone through multiple straps and now a top. Glue away but until the strap configuration is fixed........

I'll take a picture to show my straps. I installed them just like the instructions show. The top is also becoming unglued on the inside drivers side around that same general area.

Only other thread I could find. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/701...ble-top-tears/

I still have no idea where that picture is that you are reffering to. I saw pics of the Robbins top with the factory straps. Plus I can just go here and see how mine are supposed to go: https://modifry.com/products/ctf/new_strap.jpg . And they look just like that.

Ill take a pic later...

I found the thread. https://www.s2ki.com/...op/page__st__50

The Robbins tops come with the straps already installed, where as I had to remove mine with scissors and run the Modifry straps their special way. Unless you mean the straps behind the Modifry straps? I havent touched those.

This is how I installed the straps:

http://www.modifry.c...ctf/install.htm

Explain how that is "wrong"
