do u realize wen the clutch is heated up from using a lott or hot weather or the combinatin of the two, the car feels slower? feels like the clutch isnt gripping as well? and wen the weather is cool, the clutch is cool, car feels faster with better grip? im sure the air is colder and that might affect the performance too but how is the clutch condition at those times??

i think xvip once said from a stop, put the car in 4th or 6th and if it starts to move than ur good. also, be in 3rd gear around 3500 rpm and step on it. if it responds well, then ur good.

I believe it is the other way around. If the clutch is bad it will slip trying to start in a higher gear. Normally it should stall the car out if you start off in 5th gear.

Seems like it would be the oposite of this. Clutches usually perform better once they are heated up a little. Helps them to grip.

You can't really monitor its condition, but you can tell if its bad. Get rolling somewhat slowly, say 20mph, put it in 5th or 6th and floor it. If revs climb, your clutch is going out. If it just bogs and accelerates very slowly, you are still OK. Don't do this alot or for very long, not good for the expensive bits. As far as bearings, the throwout is the only one I've ever had go bad and it just makes a typical bearing grinding/rattling when you have the clutch pedal depressed. Once the pedal cheers up, the noise goes away
