on the invidia exhaust a testpipe was able to reduce the droning. however the exhaust became 2~3 times louder than it already is....
I have the invidia exhaust w/ injen intake. I've been thinkin about gettin a test pipe put in.......now my car is pretty loud as it is, and when i hit vtec, it absolutely screams. What kinda sound are we talkin about when adding the test pipe. I guess what im lookin for is people that have the invidia w/ test pipe to chime in here or someone with first hand experience. Thanks guys.

The stock exhaust tunes out the drone with the stub, but all others have it to some extent... most are unbearable IMO. I do not think any amount of sound insulation will will block that low frequency. Your best bet is a different exhaust.
Yeah the little 6" tube called the Helmholz resonator. Won't make you deaf.

Buy a Mugen, though I heard there was some drone to this thing too.

Looks like there is more to exhaust design than sticking on bigger cans.

A test pipe will definately help reducing drone in both dual and single exhaust. I've had a test pipe on my amuse and spoon n1, and it gets rid of the drone but makes the muffler louder and raspier.

hope that helps.

Don't know about the R1, but the R1000 drones just a little.

The included silencer will knock the drone out of the Apex N1 completely.

Of course with the silencer in, the car runs rich as hell and noticeably loses power on the top end. Gas mileage suffers too judging from results on a recent 1100 mile highway trip.

I've taken to putting the silencer on the exhaust before a long trip to the track and removing it before lapping.

Put a resonator mid way down the longest run of the system. It will break up the standing waves that cause the droning. Doesnt need much more than a torpedo straight through resonator. You could try a dead end stubb like on the standard system It performs a similar task. You will need to experiment with the stub length to tune it. Suggest using straight pipe with a telescopic bung up the centre of it. Move it around to determine the best length.

Speedracer.

What i really don't understand is why exhausts are so much more "droney" in the s2000 than any different car. My n1 is not loud at all from the outside, but inside the cabin its really unbearable at times when cruising on the freeway (and i'm young too, so i'm supposed to like this stuff). My n1 on my gsr was opposite. It was extremely loud from the outside but not droney at all inside the cabin. What gives? I understand that the engines are different, but there shouldn't be that much discrepancy between the way the exhausts sound.

I doubt it's because of the engine. More likely it's due to the resonance characteristics of the car itself (possibly related to the soft-top). Who knows, though.

I thought that was it, but its still droney with the hardtop on, although not as bad. I'm thinking about trying that quiet car stuff if it doesn't add too much weight and is cheap.
