how hard is it to convert the s to higher voltage?
I'm worried if I convert the car to 14-16volt system the ecu won't work right.my buddy failed with his z car but him and I were able to do it with our preludes.what is involved with doing it properly on the s?
Cars r 12v generally and will see 14v upon initial startup and run between 11-12.5v generally while under load of all the accessories due to the extra amp draw. So when wanting to run more accessories. Or if you just want your ignition system to be more efficient. Or whole electrical system more efficient you up the voltage.on a 16v system things generally stays around 14v. Fuel pump will see higher pressure and make the car more efficient. The starter will spin faster and fans will spin faster and the water pump will be more efficient. I'm not worried about the harness where I'm worried most about the ecu. I don't wanna peak it completely. But I think being closer to it's limit will be OK.
Risk is not worth the gain IMO. I really don't see how making your starter spin faster and making the electric fans spin faster gives you much of any gain. Its an extra 2 volts. How much faster do you expect them to spin? The only reason I think anyone would consider this is if they are trying to turn their s2k into a rolling boom box. Not my type of style personally.
OP- Please don't destroy a perfectly good S2000.....there is absolutely NO logical or good reason to do any of this. Oh and our water pumps are belt driven, so not sure how you're going to see it perform better from increased voltage...

the only reason to goto a 16v system is for drag racing when you dont run an alternator.
There is no good reason to do so on 90% of street cars.. I could see if you needed a little more from your ignition system or fuel pump but generally you'd need to be making ALOT of power to do that.
that all being said.. no you wont hurt anything.
