Default how many have removed steering wheel?

im going to be needing to do this to replace w/ oem s2k wheel but in suede...

the last time i did this feat was on a friends TL which.. we removed the bolt and then pulled... the SRS reel actually stuck to wheel and pulled out w/ wheel ruining reel..

ever since i dont feel confident..lol

until seeing ruslers diy where he says to leave bolt and just knock the wheel loose.. then once loose.. remove bolt and remove wheel slowly..

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=264411

just making sure.. people that have tried this on S... did the SRS reel want to stick at all or did it come off nicely w/o problems?

thank you VERRRRYYY much

dont wanna ruin my SRS reel..

Here are the steps for removal from my AP1 helms manual.

SRS components are located in this area, Review the SRS component locations, precautions, and procedures in the SRS section before performing repairs or service.

1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio, then write down the radio station presets.

2. Align the front wheels straight ahead, then remove the driver's airbag from the steering wheel {see page 23-65).

3. Disconnect the cruise control switch connector (A) and horn switch connector {B)

4. Loosen the steering wheel bolt {A).

5. Install a commercially available steering wheel puller (A) on the steering wheel (B). Free the steering wheel from the steering column shaft by turning the pressure bolt

my concern w/ remover is the thread being right.. as we have metric everything and us sells mostly standard..

im thinking the thread above is good w/ the remove bolt a lil just enuf to tap the wheel loose (un sieze it) then remove bolt and slowly/softly pull off

I rented a puller from Autozone and then went to Lowes and bought the 8mm bolts I needed. If I remember correctly it was M8x1.0. I got them 60mm long and they worked perfect. In fact, I kept the puller. It was faily easy. I will be replacing my OEM with with an OEM wheel wrapped with Alcantara (used on aftermarket steering wheels)

So it is not that hard.

i learned a trick to remove the wheel.

what you do is pull one side an push the other side. and do this all around the wheel. so far this has worked everytime without a hitch.

I used a puller that I rented from Autozone. It did have the metric bolts and all worked fine.

There were (at one point at least) instructions on Rick's website ( http://www.ricks2k.com ) on how to remove the steering wheel. I followed them carefully and had no issues.

I am not sure yet. I have two of them ready to ship to our manufacture. I will know more when they are done and I get the bill. We supplied the Alcantara.
