I've heard of the vtec solenoids going bad. Never heard it go bad on an S, but you might chalk that up to the S only being around for 3 years while other vtec cars are quite older.

Only hitting V-Tec 2-3 times a day??? When I'm driving, I hit V-Tec 70% of the time from 2nd gear and onward! That probably equates to AT LEAST 10 times a day. Is this o.k.?

in vtec 70% of the time durning normal driving?? Why!....

Id say under normal circumstances (driving to/from work, ext) I try to stay below 5000 unless I have to pass someone, or unless I have to make sure the civic dudes next to me hear blow off valve

[B]I only hit VTEC just before I shift it (in the lower gears, of course). I do try and keep it somewhere near the speed limit.

Personally, I bought my car to enjoy it. Spinning the engine into VTEC doesn't automatically mean that I don't care about the motor's life. Changing it fluids, and filters, checking plugs as so I on mean I care. But I didn't spend 30+k on a S to drive it like an accord (speaking only for myself here, because I also think this car make a wonderful "cruiser").

There is no reason to insinuate people who drive hard are "abusing" or "not caring" for their machines..... That is a bit oversimplified. The owner of their respective machine can drive it however they want, since they paid for it IMO. I just hope more owners learn to maintain these wonderful machines.
