how to take off the side panel (where the hood release are located)? and the one on the passager side also.

There is one popout at the front. Pull the threshold cover off, pull the molding at the front of the doorway and pull the cover. I leave mine with one attachment by the corner of the windshield connected and just swivel it around. It takes a bit to manuver the hood latch thru the panel. It only takes a monent after you do it the first time.
