Default How would I pass emissions w/ Invidia Test Pipe?

I'm going to be getting an Invidia V3 for my birthday this week...still wondering if I should go with the test pipe as well.....emissions has me worried....how do you guys manage to pass emissions...do you pay off the inspection guy and run an air line to trick the machine?? I'm really questioning whether it is worth getting the test pipe and risk failing/having problems w/ inspection emissions.....opions and even sketches or pics are def. welcome...thanks in advance for the responses

In NY they do not hook a sniffer to your car anymore. They hook a computer to the OBDII port on your car. As long as you are not throwing a CEL you will not have a problem with the computer. To avoid throwing a CEL you should install spark plug anti-foulers on the test pipe to place the sensor away from the exhaust gas. Do a search and you will find a thread with how to/photos on this.

I'm turbo'ed with 3in exhaust connected to invidia tips, i kept the CEL out of it and passed without any trouble, as long as they aren't snooping under your car you should be ok

You guys had it easy, in california, the do a visual check, rolling test with probe in the tail pipe, obd2 test, gas cap pressure test.

no way you can pass in california legally with a TP

Test pipe is easy to swap in and out so just remove and replace cat at inspection time.

just make sure you swap it out at least half a tank before going to smog in cali.

the cel will store in the ecm for about 50 miles or so, it will fail you on the obd2 com. test. resetting the ecm, or clearing the code with obd2 scanner will not do it.

just becareful, we got it worst in cali

there is an 02 sensor that is screwed onto a flange on the testpipe, which would normally give you a CEL. However, there are testpipes such as Berk that have a CEL-fix flange where it sticks out. Therefore, instead of the 02 sensor reading the direct flow, it reads farther away and doesn't give you a CEL.

The entire point of a test pipe is so that it is very easy to bolt your stock cat back in if you need to.
