Default Hydro Pulley

This replacement water pump pulley weighs 6.8 ounces, as opposed to the stock's 18.2 oz. This is quite a difference, imo. The water pump pulley looks to be just about the same diameter as the crankshaft pulley, so that means the wp pulley can be spinning upwards of 9000 rpm? That's a lot of energy there.

I noticed that the surface of the stock steel pulley looks a little scuffed from the belt. With an aluminum pulley, one should examine the wear surface every so often to check wear.

So far I have only seen a water pump pulley replacement for the S2000.

What about ditching our water pump and going with an electrical unit? I have heard only advantages from this.

What do you think Al

BTW, how is your car running now with the new bolts.

Actually there are now standalone electric waterpumps that you just insert between the radiator and the block by cutting a radiator hose. They are tested for 10,000 hour lifetimes (figure how many miles of driving that is!) and come with an electronic thermostat that turns them on and off according to how you want to cool the car. They cost about $400. The only issue then is bypassing the stock pump (or removing it all together) and rerouting the belt (getting a shorter one).

These are easily good for 10 hp and they make gains everywhere.
