Default i have a dilema !

well about 2 years ago my 2000 ap1 suffered from a hairline fractured valve retainer anyhow i was dealing with some life issues and was away from home for like 1 year so my pops decided to do me a favor and bring it to honda to be fixed, long story short they said the engine was done and that they could fix it for 6K LOL so my dad said screw that and picked up the car but he told the mechanic to leave it unassembled so he didnt have to pay for more labor...............i then finally get home to find my car in a million pieces i ended sifting through the parts and discover i was missing so many parts, and when i looked at the motor all that was wrong was scored cylinder walls and a cracked retainer but i was not about to pay 6k for a used motor lol... the car has been sitting in my garage since because i have no money to fix it and i was busy with life and school at the time. I have been talking with my dad and he wants to help me get it fixed and wants me to make a plan so i am making this thread for some advice. I am going to be leaving for a university in about a year or so and i want to have it up and running by then but i dont want to even mess with a re sleeve or any aftermarket stuff....if it brakes while away i will be screwed, i simply want a 100% stock engine.....i am thinking of just buying a wrecked s2000 at an auction or even just a nice 2003/03 motor with like 15-60K miles on it popping it in and calling it a day.

so advice brahs ????!!!

should i just sell off all the parts i have and add it to the new engine fund ?

cliffs:
-im away from home for over 1 year before i left car broke
-honda/dad both make mistakes in trying to fix it
-i finally get home to a dismantled car with the head in my trunk.......pissed i was
gaskets/bolts missing, im confused with the unorganized mess
-i want to just sell what i have to add to funds for a completely new engine !
-need advice

Just get a used engine then. It seems like you're leaning toward that anyways, and it'll be a lot less of a headache.

get a second opinion, ask in ur regional forum for a reliable mechanic specializing in the s2k. Don't trust the dealers, they'll tell you that you need service that's not needed.

I don't understand, the engine is done, yet they can fix it????hmmmmm!!!!!

well i mean im not an idiot and what they said was kinda true in a way....the walls were scored beyond a hone but i mean if i threw some new retainers on it i could easily have gotten 10-15k more miles.....it wasnt THAT bad......but due to missing parts i just want to get a new engine
