Default I need help on (run in rev) limits

I need some help . Well my dad car is still on its run in period . He is revving it at about 5,500 and it has done 2000 miles. this is fine I think when can we start revinging it harder ???? . I love the sound of the engine but I done want him to ruin the engine by pushing it too hard at the start of the run in .

Thank you in advance

Check your owner's manual - the break-in period is 600 miles, so you're well past it.

I think it's time for you two to take her out and drive her like she's meant to be driven!

it is not that i dont trust you im just very well i have heard from several people it takes up to 10,000 miles to fully run the enjine in. And there is another problem : When does the enjine actually start V-teching ????? . cos it feels nice when we only rev it up to 5,500rpm and it pulls away nicly but i dont want my dad to ruin the enjine but putting his foot to the floor . it would be ashame to ruine shuch a work of art under the hood . any way thanks in advance again

It's VTEC not V-TECH.

You have 2k miles now. You can drive it hard as you want. Enjoy...just remember, wait till the temp is warmed up before you get on it.

If you like the way the engine feels and sounds now, just wait until you take it over 6k RPM . It is time to do so. Have fun and let us know what you and your dad think.

Ok Thanks allot people. I will have to tell my dad to rev harder make it VTEC . I know what the engine sounds like at 9,000 revs because I was taken out in one a few days ago. The acceleration is amazing. I think we where doing 30 and we got up to 100 in a very short space ( I don't know the exact distance ). Well thanks again guys great help. I should know more about the car but as I am only 16 my knowledge is limited about the car. I will post pics of my dads car as soon as I can get hold of a digital camera. But for any of those people who have seen a nurberg blue/blue/blue soft top that is our car. Had to wait 5 months for it to arrive though but it is worth it, as all you owners know / should know.
Thanks again guys

Hi guys again . Well I managed to get my dad to rev it to 8,000 rpm . So I am pushing him to take it up to the 9,000 or 9,500rpm but he is still reluctant to rev it harder. Well thanks again guys and have fun in your cars.

you can't rev to 9500 the rev limiter will kick in before that.

The rev limiter doesn't kick in until after 9500 RPM (indicated), though most of the tuners know that the stock tach is way off. I believe fuel cut is at 9,000 RPM (actual).
