IACV does not spin smoothly
Hello everyone,
I recently followed LHT Performance's guide on cleaning the IACV since my car has 200,000+ miles. I tried to spray as little cleaner as I could inside and removed as much carbon deposits as possible.
But my issue is that the rotating shaft does not spin smoothly. It gets caught at a certain spot and I think I can see metal wearing down on the shaft.
Also, the cleaner ruined the rubber gasket. Can this IACV be saved or do I need to replace it?
Thanks!
EDIT: Reason I ask is because my idle was okay but after cleaning it the idle hunts up and down. I tried the MAP sensor wack and re-learning the idle.

Never ever spray any cleaner into the iac. It will only destroy the bearings. Spinning the shaft free, and a drop of engine oil in each bearing is all you need to do.
Its amazing ive been saying this for 15 years, yet people want to rewrite the book.

Just like Billman says, remove it and add a tiny bit of oil into the bearing and spin it with your hand. I know exactly the struggle as I notice the same issue after cleaning it ( I used brake cleaner ) but adding a tiny drop of oil into the bearing it made it spin freely no issues.
Good luck!

So one brand new Honda gasket and lubing the bearing with a drop of engine oil and spinning the shaft I pulled the Backup 7.5 fuse then put it back after 60 seconds.
Let the car idle with no other electronics and the idle hunt was still a thing. The car was not up to temperature so I held revs to 3000 RPM and after the car warmed up the idle hunt is gone.
I'll let the car sit overnight and test it with a cold start to see if that did the trick.
