Default imobilizer removal? possible

hi... i recently bought a 01 s2000 at an auction that was hit pretty badly in the front. i have it all fixed now and just need the headlights and the key i guess but the only problem is that the car is down south of the border in mexico since it was cheaper to fix... i have a key but it does not start the car since it does not have the imobilizer feature and im gonna hate having to tow it back to the us for someone to make a key because its pretty far...

just wondering if anyone knows a way that i can disactivate it to get it running for now???

i will pm any one my vin and all my info just so that you dont think im trying to pull anything fishy and ill send pics of the before and after shots.....

thanks any help will be greatly apreciated... thanks a bunch

There are Honda dealers in Mexico, they can program a key to the car. There isn't a "work around" for the immobilzer system, If there was, It wouldn't do much good as a anti-theft feature.

they can repair an s2000 in ensenada?

Last time I checked the immobilizer in the S2000 is the same as in all Honda's... they really should be able to code the key properly for you. If not, bring it back up to the US to have it done at an american dealer.

It is not coding the key.. it is programming the ecu to accept the keys you have. I have only seen it done in the dealership and would guess that there is no portable unit as it would make theft easier.

Locksmith's can electronically duplicate an existing key, I don't know of any that can program the PCM to accept a new key.

It short you will probably have to have the car moved home to have it recoded. The Helm manual states "If the Customer has lost his key and can't start the car contact Honda Customer Relations". You needs keys and an ECU reset.....and I can gaurantee you no US agent will provide this information to such a hot spot for stolen US cars.

Utah

P.S. Better make sure the paper is clean on your recovery vehicle as if it's not you'll have an armload of other problems to deal with besides a car that won't start .
