Default Importance of Yellow Box with 4.44 gear?

How necessary is it to get the yellow box to correct the speedo after installing the 4.44 gear? What kind of speedo error are we talking with the 4.44 and no yellow box? Is the yellow box worth it? I want the 4.44 gear, but I don't want to play with the wiring and spend the extra $ to get the yellow box as well. Experiences and suggestions please. Thanks

If you go to the expense and effort of putting in the gears, the YB should not be too much more. Do you really want to rack up 8% MORE miles than stock?
I even have a "How To" on this:

i beleive also that while you are at it since the diff. will be open you might as well get the comptech diff fix, its what i will do since it means less labor, and parts is not bad, but labor is a biotch.

Well, it sounds like installing this yellow box would be illegal if it alters the odomoter in anyway what so ever. I know the yellow box is there to correct the mileage because of the 4.44 gears, but how does the dealer upposed to know or believe that. I think you would run into some problems tryng to trade in a S with something installed that alters the mileage. I don't plan on having this car forever, i eventually want a ferrari

Hey, if we get 4 local S2000 owners to trade in their cars, we still won't have enough money for a Modena... I saw a red one yeserday, i stained my seat.
