BlackS2000Turbo and I dyno tested our cars last week and did some data logging. His car is a 2000 with a Speedcraft turbo and mine is a 2002 with a Comptech SC. The cars were dyno'd back to back and the following AITs were observed - BlackS2000Turbo was at 86 degrees and I was 118 degrees (I need an intercooler )

The spreadsheet I put together has a data sheet and a graph sheet. It can be found at:

http://www.kpj.com/S2000/DataLog.xls

Please keep in mind that this is only two cars and that there are other factors that influence timing. If anybody has done similar datalogging, please post it up to either confirm or contradict these findings.

Pete,

when i get my H/E put on after Xmas vacation, i will be going back to have it tuned, if you want to show up with your OBD-II stuff, we can get stats from my '00 SC. That would give us the diff between a '00 and '02 SC which will take his Turbo/Intercooler out of the equation. With your initial stats with stock pulley, mine with 4.375 and your new 4.2, it should also show increase of IAT/spark advance in relation to boost pressure increase.

How sure are you about the data? Seems to me that over 10 degrees difference and the consistent margin indicates more of a measurement problem.

that is what i was thinking, Larry's timing is not advanced as much as yours even with more boost (was that plot from his 10lb run?) because his intercooler is dropping the IAT below what you had with 6lb and no aftercooler.

i do not have a date setup yet. once i am back from Az will be putting on the H/E myself, probably over New Year holiday, so i will try and do it 1st or 2d week of Janif Curry's can get me in. will drop you a line once i get a firm date.

I am using an OBD-II cable from ODB-2.com and Alex Peper's software. We did 6 pulls with my car and 3 with BlackS2000Turbos and saw very repeatable data. There were of course differences of a degree or two here and there, but for the most part, they were extremely consistent. Considering the same software and cable were used to capture the data, I am very sure about the data.

Just as another interesting point, I've been testing a reprogrammable ECU in my car recently. It is based on a Honda development ECU from a preproduction or press car. Compared to my stock 00 timing, the development ECU (before we began altering it) was showing 5-7 deg more ignition timing at all rpms when compared back to back (on the same car) on the dyno. This did not cause any detonation or any problems, but it did improve power (although not as much as expected).

I'm still waiting to do a back to back ECU comparison on the same car on the dyno to see power differences, but more and more I think the 2002 runs more advance.

I did indeed. There was good support from Alex Peper and the board members on how to do this. My problems were in gateway settings and I was, by accident, asking the car to send me everything

So then you decreased the amount of the information you requested from the car and that increase your sampling rate?
