There is an inch diameter (approx.) gray colored hose that originates somewhere below the bottom right side of the radiator (facing aft), and it feeds into the air intake hose between the airbox to the throttle body intake. My "SWAG" is that it is related to the emissions control system.

Can anyone tell me what the purpose of the hose is, and where it begins?

If this vents air somewhere from the engine or crankcase, does not its introduction of heat to the intake hose detrimentally increase the temperature of air delivered to the TB?

TIA

I'm not looking at the car, nor have seen the hose you described, but from your description, it sounds like its emissions related.

Back in the Mustang days, I'd by pass this, as it would run right through the throttle body (actually the EGR spacer) and then out the other side. Me and my buddies would make a little connecting tube and clamp em down on each side. It didn't do any harm by bypassing it - but you gotta keep in mind, we're from the South, so it doesn't really matter much when the whole purpose of the said hose was to 'heat up' the throttle body air going in. Not exactly sure why.

/my two cents.

p.s. - I'm glad someone out there knows what a SWAG is besides me!

You are refering to the inlet end of the "Pulsed Secondary Air Injection System". The other end goes to an air pump located in the left fender area. The system is somewhat complicated but in short injects air into the exhaust ports. The air reacts with unburned exhaust gas and increases the exhaust gas temperature. This in turn promotes faster warm up of the catalytic converter and better emissions output.

(Ref: Helm Manual 11-28).

Thanks Utah

Schatten: Yep, a SWAG.... I had the air going the wrong way.
