I was just wondering if anyone has installed bonnet lifters on thier S2K? Other cars I've owned in the past have had them and they're such a nice touch that I think they would go really well on my s...
The only problem I can foresee is the S's bonet being hard to close already - it has got to be dropped from quite a height which may not be possible if you put it on lifters...?

I think putting on such lifters on an S2000 hood would become a nightmare. For one, we can't push down it to close it securely. With lifters, this would be the only way to close it - NOT A GOOD THING! For another, even IF you could get away with closing it, the continued upward force of the lifters when closed would put quite a bit of stress on the hood in that location. Remember what the reason is for having to "drop" the hood to close it in the first place. It's aluminum and any undue leverage placed upon it can potentially bend and crease it.

Thats exactley what I was thinking - it would be a cool mod but how would you do it without damaing / risking damaging the bonnet?
I was hoping someone would say "YES! I've done it! All you have to do is..."
No luck so far!

Adjust the catch.
I saw an S with lifters in a post ages ago. Looked pretty good.
Also I don't think the upwards pressure is a problem as when you pull the bonnet to within about 20 degrees of closing the lifters are at such an acute angle that they have virtually no upward force on the bonnet. You should still be able to drop it from there.

1. Note xv's warning about the Al hood.
2. You shouldn't have to drop the hood from more than, say, 1.5'. If you're dumping it from higher than that then I think you need to adjust the latch and/or lube it.
