Default Intermittent airbag SRS light

So on Saturday my SRS light came on and I have no idea why. I drove the car about 20 miles, parked it for a while, then drove it home. When I cranked it to go home, the light didn't come on again.

Since then I've driven the car a few times and the SRS light has only come on about 1/2 the time. I haven't done anything to my car recently that might have triggered it. Steering wheel, dash, and anything else related to the airbag are completely stock.

What would be causing this?

You'll have a history code stored for sure.

Jump pins 4 and 9 of the obd2 connector. Turn on the key. The srs light will flash codes. Write em down, post em up, we fix your car

Thank you. Is there an easy way to jump these pins? What format will the codes be in?

Paper clip, very tiny diameter.

first digit of code blinks long blinks. Second digit blinks fast blinks. This gives you your 2 digit code.

Exmaple: 3 long blinks, then two fast blinks is code 32

Is there a way to permanently turn the light off? Stuff was cut under my seats when seats were stolen before and at this moment i dont wanna dish out alot of cash to fix it. Also would missing that stuff cause any of the airbags not to deploy?

Every single component of the SRS system must be intact for both airbags, or neither of the the bags will deploy.

So yes you could get rid of the light, but your airbags will be useless. Your SRS ECU is always in command-light-on mode as it sees the faults. The system is non-operational in this mode.

Being that you have an 06, you will need a good wire/solder man

so basically if the light is on none of the airbags will deploy? passenger side has wires cut and drivers side is missing something so there are two things unplugged. Would i have to purchase the entire srs unit? sorry about the thread jack

Light on= no deployment of either bag.

You have to buy/fix whatever is missing and buy/fix whatever is cut.

The SRS control unit is fine. It only becomes garbage if it fires off the bags.

Most people who sell cars know nothing of their workings.

They should at LEAST know about serious safety issues like airbags.

What exactly is missing/cut on your car? I can hook you up with a s2k parts master that sells lots of used mint stuff.
