Default intermittent knocking sound from motor

Hi all,

ive noticed my car knocks intermittently when its on idle. i dont think the sound is coming from inside the motor, but it is quite audible and annoying. it sounds as though the block itself might be hitting against something.

my cars done 87000miles, and i always fill up with 98 octane fuel and am running hondas FEO engine oil.

any suggestions as to what it is? could the engine mounts be wearing causing the engine to knock against something (wild guess, is this even possible).

ill try and get a sound clip up later in the day so you can have a hear

thanks
John

I have the same issue. 150K miles and I bet it's still got the stock motor mounts.

I have the innovative mounts going in soon.... hopefully next week. I think this is exactly what noises I'm hearing are.

I had a knocking form the engine bay and it was the timing chain tensioner. I guess moore of a rattle. It was replaced under waranty and then it started making noise again a little later. I switched from synthetic oil to regular and no more noises. It's been 30k miles since I switched oil and still no noises.
