Yea, this is crazy! I was just about to put clean idle valve, til I read further into your post.

These prices are WAY out of line even for a dealer. I note you are new here and so I'll give you a lead. Billman has forgotten more about these cars then most will ever know. Give his posts some priority. I also could not tell where you are located. There are many regional forums on this board. You can scroll down on the main page and look for your state or country. They may be able to point you to a local mechanic....or even a dealer. There still are a few good ones out there!

Not to change the subject, but I'm just curious Billman why you say it's almost impossible to bend the valves on a AP2.

Because AP2 cars have an extra 1000 rpm insurance against over-rev.

Wide open at 8k, shift to wrong gear, hit 9500. no harm done.

AP1 wide open at 9k, shift to wrong gear, rev to 10500. Cracked retainers.

Even at a full blown money shift in an AP2, you are no where near splitting retainers, let alone bending valves at 10,700rpm
