Default ITS BAAACK....

as some of you may know, a couple weeks ago, i arrived back into va. beach from a long 900 mile drive from chicago. at that time, i had horrible creaking/scraping noises from the back right. of course many mentioned that it could be a bearing. so first thing, had the dealer retorque both nuts.... and assuming it would be back in the next week....it wasnt. well, a few days ago(about 2 weeks after the retorque), from a stand still there is a pop/loud click from the back right(same corner). now, this is a completely different sound, no creaking or loud deep squeals like before. so now i'm just confused. it happens mostly when i'm turning right, and accelerating from a stop, harder to try to get it to happen if i'm going straight. could this still mean a bad bearing, even though there is no sounds like before...did the dealer do a bad torque??? i have an axle nut and new bearing standing by, just waiting for what the smart ones think i should do. and sorry if i left any details out. looking forward to hearing from you guys!!!

At 20k, I haven't *fingers crossed* had any problems. I suppose you could have a bad wheel bearing

My advise to you is to take your car to someone you trust and perform the axle nut procedure again, only with an additional step. Have the mechanic remove the axle from the hub/knuckle assembly, lube the splines where the axle splines into the hub, lightly lube the nut where it comes into contact with the hub and re-torque and re-stake. This should be done with the new nut you have.

I would try try this first before replacing the bearing.

How can you tell if there is grease on the axle where it is splined to the hub by simply taking the wheel off?
