Default Just bought an S2000 - advice please!

Hey!

I'm new, just bought an S2000 this Saturday ('99 Prelude needed new rotors, a new clutch, possibly a new o2 sensor, a new catalytic converter, the hood repainted, and a new water pump...) and I'm thrilled to BITS with my purchase.

I had a friend who isn't a fan of Hondas and knows a fair bit about cars test drive it after I test drove it (well, after I test drove it the first time, I test drove it twice just to be sure I loved it) and checked out as much as I could without physically having a mechanic present at the car lot.

I'm now going to bring it by my mechanics (Honda Works in Charlotte if anyone is familiar with them, the one on South not in University) to have them check it out, I can still return the car with no penalty by the close of business today if anything fishy is up (doesn't seem to be as far as performance, I've driven the car a load this weekend... obviously!)

I'm wondering if there is any sort of checklist I should make sure they go by, or any S2k-specific things that they should check.

They only do work on Hondas and Acuras and are ridiculously familiar with the cars, but I want to make 100% sure that everything is good to go on this car, as well as get an idea of when things like diff and trans fluid were last changed so I can know what to expect going forward. (I had to buy the Prelude in a hurry and, well, as you can see from above - that purchase sucked, to say that I'm paranoid about this one is an understatement)

If there's a thread on this already, forgive me for starting another one and please link me to it - I've been looking through the stickies but didn't find anything that was along this sort of checklist - most things are more specific.

Thanks in advance for the help, I'm stopping by there around 4:30ish EST.

Just to make clear, I bought a 2000 S2000 with 74,500 on it. It's Silverstone and Black (as you can tell from my user info) and has been really well-maintained. Minimal (almost not even noticeable, but I'm exceedingly picky) wear on the interior leather, an almost immaculate paint job and the engine bay looks brilliant aside from a slight bit of oxidation around a bolt (which I'm having checked out) on top of the VTEC cover. As far as I can tell breaks and such are good to go as well, def. having those looked at a 2nd time - oil change was just done about 100 miles ago, and I bought the car from CarMax, so they just completed their 125-point inspection on the vehicle about 100 miles before I bought it. New state inspection as well, again 100 miles before I bought it.

Oh, and Hi!

Check the clutch - put it in 6th gear while traveling about 30mph, and floor it. Do this to check for slippage.

thanks - will have them check the fluids to see if they've recently been replaced (oil, for example) - was planning on replacing the diff, trans and clutch fluids at least within the next few thousand miles, just to be sure.

MY2000 check list... else than above,

1. spark plug: it was replaced to "fit" better on these cars. make sure you have right ones.

2. valve adjustment: if it wasn't done, should check it to make sure.

3. Valve retainers: while doing VA, check for abnormality on valve retainers. something like crack.

4. oil jet bolt: it was replaced from 2 holes to 4 holes. if possible, replace it.

5. shaft nut: torque spec changed from 120 to 240 if I remember correctly.

there are many other that i don't remember.

Does it have the clutch buzz ? If it does see if they will replace it. Also check for any transmission noise. Do you have the plastic rear window?
