Just bought an S2000 - which mods does it have?
I'm new to the forums and plan on frequenting them a lot more in the near future.
I just bought an '02 S2000 and am curious regarding the engine mods that it currently has. I have attached a pic.
I know the car has an open air filter, but the previous owner said that it was installed and sold by the local Honda Dealer - could this be true? Are there any benefits to keeping it in there (he included the original airbox as well)? It looks like it is just sucking in hot air.
Also, what are the red wires (which should be black in stock form)? Are they simply aftermarket plug wires. Are they worth keeping on the car?
I apologize for the newbie questions, but I am not familiar with S2000 mods yet. Thanks for the help in advance.

Thanks for the quick replies. Does anyone know what type of intake it is?
Also, is there any real benefit to keeping it, or should I just swap back in the stock airbox and hoses?

it's a weird looking intake that's for sure. it's not seeming like it's a CAI since there's a filter in the middle of the pipe (i assume to prevent hydrolock). But with that filter in the middle it might as well be a short ram.
the only difference this intake will make for you is sound. On WOT the sound is going to be much different and louder as well. Many people LIKE the sound an aftermarket intake provides. Sounds cool, and that's the main reason I have my CAI. (though my CAI does offer a bit more power towards the top end it seems)

never seen that intake b4 so most likely it is custom..
it might be in your best interests to put the stock gear back on and scrap the funky aftermarket parts. unless it makes a really cool sound that you're fond of. you may already know this but most aftermarket parts for the s2000 are limited in the amount of useful performance you can gain. intakes especially because the stock box is pretty free-flowing already and was meticulously designed to locate the coldest air possible without cutting your bumper or subjecting the engine to hydro-lock.

I'v seen that intake before. But I forgot who made it. Someone else on this board had it prior. I believe it is a CAI and that it draws air from the front of the car (like a CAI) and the engine of the car like a ram air. Looks like you also got a front strut bar and a billet cover under the intake.
