Default Just changed oil, dipstick registering low?

i changed the oil yesterday using mobil one 10-30 synthetic and i just checked the oil level tonight and it is only two x's above low. Every time i change oil it registers perfect at the high mark but not over it. I put in the full 5.1 quarts of oil as the manual states. Anyone have ideas or have had this happen?? it is driving me crazy thinking its low!! i checked for leaks and see none at the drain plug or at the filter.

5.1 isn't quite accurate.. Yeah the Manual says it, but most take 5.5 to put the oil level on the top X.

I did both a hot and a cold check and they both came back about that same, still low overall. I just dont see even with only five quarts that it still would register so low.

I think JiffY Lube may get away with 5.1qts but if you allow for a more complete drain of 30minutes or more, 5.5qts seems about right to me.

Does the dipstick need to read at High? I always put 5.1qts as Honda recommends and this reads at the 4th "x" on my dipstick when checking in my garage. On subsequent checks after at least 30 mins of cool-down, I simply make sure I'm at the 4th "x" all the time, in my garage.

Oil is necessary for VTEC but having too much can have bad consequences on the engine.

I usually have to add a little more after an oil change. The filter takes up a lot of oil. Usually I start the car up and let it run a bit, shut off engine, wait, recheck oil level, top off, done.

I don't recall the OM saying exactly at what X the oil should cover on the dipstick. I keep mine at the top X because this is the way my car was sold to me new. I' d be comfortable with a minimum 3/4ths of all x's covered.
