Default Just got into an accident

Last night I hit my driver's side on a curb while swerving to avoid a group of pedestrians at about 12PM. It was very wet. I had a very late reaction time, the pedestrians, my passenger and I are safe. Collision probably happened going around 25-35mph (speed limit 35)
I left the car at my passenger's house and haven't had a chance to jack it up yet.
  • My rear wheel is bent and actually torn.
  • My front wheel got pushed towards my driver door a couple of inches.
  • At full right on the steering wheel, my left wheel is not even straight (still a little to the left)
  • If I release the steering wheel going at any speed-even 5mph-the steering wheel will turn to the left faster than humanly possible to turn it.
  • My transmission now also has an issue where the gears are very hard to find. 5th and 6th are just a slight push away from 3rd and 4th. If I tried to shift regularly into 3rd, I'd end up in 5th and have to refind 3rd.
  • All gears seem to work. However it slipped out of 4th while driving.
here's my rear driver wheel.
Anyone have any idea what could be broken?
Typing this at work, will update more later.
Thanks!

Just curious did you address and correct the issue about the rear end swaying. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/995...#entry22214070

Glad you and the pedestrians are alive and well. Sorry about the S though.

yes, I got it fixed yesterday morning, which sucks because now I probably have to replace everything now.
It was actually all an alignment issue, my caster and toe were like 4-6 degrees off.

You are probably looking at some bent suspension pieces. I'd say jack it up and do a visual inspection to see if anything looks out of place. As for the tranny, I'm not sure. You may pull up the console and take a look down at the base of the shifter. Let us know what you find. Sorry to hear of the incident, but glad no one on scene was hurt.

Glad you weren't hurt! Seems like you will have to go piece by piece, part by part, to see what's messed up. Not sure why your transmission would be hurting unless the force of the impact was enough to break something.

Most likely, I'm hoping rack and pinion is alright. I'll definitely get to that as soon as I have time, been working so much I haven't even been able to look at it thoroughly yet. Thanks! Also, thank you for your input I'll update as soon as I take a good look at it.

Thanks! I'm glad no one was hurt too. Damn, seems that way, especially for something as important as the suspension. As for the transmission, neutral actually sits like... inbetween 1st and 2nd gear, as if you had it to the left, you can see it leaning. Makes the gear throw a lot shorter.
Thanks for your input also!

Absolute minimum there's a control arm or two bent.

Sounds like the steering issue is going to be the sensor on the steering rack. The control arms affected need to be replaced. I replaced a front lower that was broken (1 inch thick steel) and it drives straight now even without an alignment. Check the tabs behind your alignment bolts, the are likely flattened as well. For all my damage, nothing but the control arm was bent meaningfully.

The trans/gear problem sounds like maybe your hand was on the shifter at the time of impact or your passenger slammed into it at impact. If enough force was put on it, you could have bent the shift lever or internal trans parts.
