What I was trying to say earlier is It may be that my light wheels and additional lost weight enable me to feel a more drastic difference than stock set up. I know that I feel more than 5 hp!

My buddy who drives an S too drove my S today and said it is much faster than it was without the aircharger. So fast that he is selling his injen CAI and buying a K&N aircharger.

Anyone interested in his CAI?

Unless you have forced induction, you will probably loose power by adding MORE fuel.

Er, even with forced induction? You don't know what you're talking about, do you honda9krpm?

Last I checked, if you look at Wesmaster's VAFC settings with the Comptech setup, he ended up leaning it out.

On this car, leaning makes power.

Sorry guys,

K & N CAI install and dyno delayed until next week. Local speed shop with dyno would not run the test because it rained on Saturday. I am taking a day off next week to run the baseline, have the K & N CAI installed and then have the car dyno'd again. Get back to you with the results

Any idea of how tight a seal this makes between the engine bay and hood/engine bay. Is the filter hot after long driving in mild weather? Just looking to make sure its really a CAI.

One tip I can make is to maybe put some rubatex over the top of the radiator. It looks like the K&N will draw air from the stock intake area and that is a place where hot air gets taken in.

I think Honda 9krpm is just trying to say that there is an optimum stochiometric air to fuel ratio due to a certain quantity of fuel that burns optimally with a certain amount of oxygen. To lean or too rich will create an unfavorable burn. It would make sense to me that if you are forcing a greater volume of oxygen in the cylinder then you must compensate by also adding a given amount of fuel (to reach the optimum stochiometric ratio)

The engine does it on its own though. In fact, doesn't it try to equal it out so that its at the same ratio as stock? So in fact, you'd still have to lean it out.

infinitebass,
why don't you do a search on vortech SC and see what Jenner setting was before he add nitro to his S? Most of the guys with Vortech also needed to richen their fuel.

During partial throttle, the engine correct it's A:F ratio. However, during full throttle, it goes into open loop. This loop can be tricked to inc/decrease the ratio. Hence, the use of VAFC

those wheels are not 11.3lbs...probably nearly as heavy as stock.
but if you are feeling the effect, then it just goes to show how even the slightest drop in unsprung, reciprocating weight is really significant. but real power (FI) and lightweight forged wheels or heavy stock wheels gets the job done.

honda9krpm, since you seem to know so much about the VAFC and A/F ratio, explain this:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...?threadid=36196

And explain how the Speedcraft guys are getting more power from leaning it out. What makes the Vortech any different?
