Default KING Bump Steer Kit

Well, this is the month my steering rack and uprights get removed and shipped to King in Sullivan, WI. It seems whenever I ask Scott (King's president) about a part he gives me the quote and the 30 second description and a "thanks for the order" before taking the next phone call (busy up there).
When I inquired about the bump-steer kit, it seemed Scott kind of lit up and said, "oh yeah, it's really nice, you'll love it". I sensed a lot of pride in his description of their discovery of lowering the steering rack, adding hard bushings and raising the ball joints.
In addition, King is fabricating vented front disc shields, thus opening up the current slotted openings. I will post results upon completion of installation and a new wheel alignment. If I were Mingster I'd name this "The things that make me happy" thread ll.

Yep, Scott is really busy right now with the racing season in full swing. He will be calmer after next weekend. Yea right!

explain this kit.

What does it to? (I understand what bump steer is). How does it correct it?

Is this a King product or a Mugen one?

It is definately something that Scott and the King crew came up with. This is only on the front suspension currently. They are working on a fix for the rear right now.

I have driven both King Project S2000's, but not in track conditions so I have not noticed the benefit yet. Unless you push the car to 8/10's, 9/10's or 10/10's you probably won't notice the bumpsteer issue, IMHO.

I'm assuming this is more of an issue on lowered stoks? Is the King kit not a bolt on mod?
I love running in A Stock, but the H/R coil overs can be had pretty cheap now. The resv on the rears are pretty nice f/ the shortened shock body (to help w/ the temps I guess)

I spoke to Scot about it as well when I was ordering a spoiler - he quoted me $800 bucks and said it was a very involved process of changing the mouting/pickup points in the front suspension. I haven't sen any pictures of it, but I know about other bumpsteer kits in other cars that modify bushings, endlinks, or even modify the pickup points of front suspension joints. I'd like to know more about what exactly this entails, but I'm not willing to ship off a steering rack by any means, unless there is a core exchange in the deal - which I would be iffy about in the first place, receiving someone else's rack. (no pun intended)

I wanted it since I heard about it but was intimidated by the whole "pulling the steering rack & uprights" and shipping thing.
After talking to Scott about it for the third time he said, "it's less then you're making of it", "four bolts and a plug and the rack's out" - "just make sure you insure it".
Well, I'm still a little overwhelmed, so I mailed a check to King which helped my commitment. I won't be in Florida and the shop will take it out, ship it 2nd day air and reinstall it before I ever see it. King said they only need it a day and a half. This will complete my suspension and that was first and foremost to me. I can't wait to go lookin' for wavy asphault with the N-Zero coilovers set stiff. The car already handles better than anything else I've ever driven.

You're going to be amazed at how well the car tracks at speed through bumpy corners...

Soooo much better than stock

GTR I believe you and can't wait to take on that bumpy sweeper that exits onto the grandstand straight at Sebring. The bumpsteer kit with 35 lbs less (Regamaster) unsprung weight to hold down, the big 31mm Mugen bar grindin' the outside steer into the pavement as the N-Zero coilovers refresh rates keep my contact patch on the ground - ARE WE HAVIN' FUN YET!
