Default Knock on acceleration increasing with wheel speed

Hi all, I'm posting this for a friend of mine that doesn't have an account on here. I've never personally encountered this issue so I'm looking to see if anyone else has any thoughts.

The sound gets worse as the car gets warm.
The sound only occur on acceleration. As soon as I get off the throttle or put the car in neutral the sound goes away.
The sound seem to be too distinct to be a wheel bearing noise imo.
He had the car on jackstands and believes the sound is coming from the differential

that sound seems to be coming from the front of the car, are you absolutely certain it's coming from the rear?

if you think it's coming from the rear, have you put the car up and inspected the drivetrain underneath?

I'd check the security of the drive train/mounts/bushings. sounds like a driveshaft clanking on probably exhaust. Wheel bearing probably wouldn't go away by putting it in neutral.

Sounds like it’s coming from behind the seat. My friend did have he car on jackstands but did not thoroughly inspect. I might have to take a look for him.

That is what I thought when I first got into the car and was driving it. The thud sounds like it has to be on metal that is reasonably thick. Also agree about the wheel bearing.
