Default Knock noise when i reverse

Any ideas on this. when i reverse there is a knock which i thought might be a bush etc however on inspection of MOT my mechanic noticed a small amount of backlash on the diff. Has anyone else had this knock which is connected to the diff. If it is the diff then i need to find the right guys to sort it. Any ideas thoughts and recommendations would be appreciated

thanks

If you mean a single knock when reversing, look up axle nut tsb. Insufficient axle nut torque.

There is no way dif backlash is causing a knock.

Wait a fraction of a second when shifting from a forward gear to reverse, or double clutch, see if that helps. Sometimes I noticed a knock shifting into first gear too quickly when coming to a stop, same idea I think. It's not a maintenance issue.
