Something tells me that by Spring, I'll need to replace my Koni Yellows, even though doing the bumber knee bounce test they still seem tight. But I put 50,000 miles, a full season of autocrossing and 3 track days with them.

Anyone know what the typical life expectency is w/ Koni Yellows?

Just a quick note on adjustment, if you crank up the rears more than the fronts you may change the transient handling characteristics. In other words, you may get more initial oversteer. Since our cars are known (notorious?) for hanging the tail out just be aware you may get more of the same . Not necessarily bad but a possibility.

No need to replace them. Konis can be revalved and if you think they are blown you can send them back to Koni and have them dyno tested.

So are these shocks stiff or not? I am thinking of buying them but people say that they are softer than the stock suspension. Can someone let me know if they are softer? I want my car to be stiffer than the stock suspension.

I have no experience with Koni yellows on the S2k, but I do have them on my GTI and I can tell you they can be a hell of a lot stiffer than the stock S suspension. I find them to be excellent for spirited road driving, as well as occational track days. They come with a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser, so if you crack one (I've cracked 3 ) you get a free replacement. Also, as mentioned above, they can be revalved if worn (around $100) and matched to your spring rate for optimum performance. Some people have even modified them to be externally damping adjustable, in addition to the stock rebound adjustment.
