Default Larger Oil Filter Update

I have had my S for three years and have put 80k miles on it so far.
All of those miles were with a Baldwin oil filter, I used the B7042 at first and then went to the B202 both are the same size 3 11/16" X 5 3/8"
Here are the pic's I took of the B7042, Wix and the Honda filter for the S

We just got back from a 6300 mile, 11 state drive and my '06 did not burn any oil(never does) even on this trip. We drove the car up over 14k ft. and I can tell you when you get up over 8.5k ft. you have to go WOT a lot especially when your still climbing all the way up to over 14k ft. We had our S up over 10k ft. on about nine different passes and I really liked the way it handled the altitude. Every time we go someplace, this car just keeps telling my wife and I we made a great choice.

The reason I run the larger oil filter is because it filters my oil better(my uoa's back this up) and the larger size of this filter still gives me better flow through the oil filter. I also get to put in more oil at every change, I just change the oil with the car on the floor but if you raise and tilt the car you can put even more fresh oil in the car. This is a big filter so if you have a turbo it might not fit.

Yes, more if you tilt the car.

The filter doesn't come close to hitting anything(stock car) so I don't know what a pic would show.

Some of us found oversize filters were more subject to loosen with a lot of high rpm so safety wires were often used. It was too much trouble for me so I just use OEM now.

I have never had one of my oil filters come loose on the street. If I put my car on the track I would always safety wire the oil filter no matter what oil filter I used. Better safe than sorry.

You can also make one out of a large hose clamp on the filter(any filter). Don't know if that's legal at all tracks but it will keep a filter from loosening up.
