Default Leaking petrol?

I was starting up the car today, first time i started it in a week.

As i was waiting for it to warm up, I noticed a very very strong smell of petrol, and I thought that it couldn't' have been from the exhaust as I was in an open area. I had a look underneath the car, and noticed that some form of liquid was dripping at a fairly fast rate from near the rear left wheel, near the mufflers. The aircon was not on, so I quickly turned off the engine, and the dripping stopped. I had a smell of the liquid and it smelt like petrol.

What could be the problem?? is this even normal? as i have never experienced anything like this in any of my other cars.

Did you overfill your tank?

Make sure to never fill up the neck of the tank.

Nope!

it was only 30% full.

However, I went for a drive and the leaking has now gone away...
