Default Lightened flywheel too light?

My tuner was telling me that my Comptech flywheel was too light. He says that FI cars don't need to be lightened and that I am losing too many revs between shifts. He also said that because of it being too light that it won't last very long possibly a month or so . He said I should take my stock flywheel and have a company lighten it a little, maybe 5lbs. He said I woud be a lot better off. Also to mention you can smell clutch pretty good when I am backing it up. The clutch I have is a pain in the ass to take off, I find myself revving overly just to get going.

I dont know about the second issue, I do know that one of the few drawbacks of light flywheels is that you lose more revs between shifts.

I am curious on this one, since I just added FI and now it seems I need a clutch and was contemplating the Comptech flywheel also?

Is there a flywheel somewhere in the middle weight wise?

How many RPMS do you lose shifting at Redline?

I think your tuner wants to sell you a flywheel swap and machining worth of profit.

Do YOU think you are losing too many RPMs?

Lightening a stock flywheel will only introduce places for stress fractures to develop. Get a new tuner.

Why does my clutch smell than? He is not chraging me for the lightening of the flywheel, it's another company.
Does anyone else have a hard time getting around with an aftermarket clutch?

you just said you are revving it hard to take off, which means you're slipping the clutch right? slipping = stink

This may have nothing to do with your clutch set up. Backing up, especially if going up an incline is a common place to slip a clutch to the point of smelling. You are far less likely to get up to a speed going backwards where you can fully release the clutch and drive by throttle alone.
