Default Which is Lighter

Which is lighter? The convertible s2k or the hardtop s2k with all the convertible components removed. Of course the hardtop is lighter with the hardtop removed, but I am wondering if anyone knows which is lighter when the hardtop is on the car.

i would have to go with the hardtop with convertible components removed would be lighter.... the convertible top needs motors for it to go up and down. so those might weigh a few lbs... the hardtop alone only weighs 44lbs i believe.....

- hardtop weighs ABOUT 44lbs (just like posted above)
- soft top weighs ABOUT 100lbs (people have claimed) and that is the complete assembly...

The softtop with components is around 60-65 lbs. The hardtop is 43 lbs. So there is a net savings by running the hardtop sans convertible components.

As above from Ludedue I did this exact thing. The soft top and its hard ware weighed 67 lbs on my scale. the hard top weighed 45.

If you're trying to pinch pounds, you might be better off using a Mugen CF hardtop. They're lighter than the OEM hardtops, although there are other compromises (no rear window defrost, plastic rear window, no liner, etc.

If memory serves, the non-cf is within a pound or two of the OEM one.

I forget the weight of FRP Mugen top, but if I remember it right, it is heavier than OEM.
