Default LightInSight neck saver

In the August Car and Driver's Audi TT long-term test, they comment on a device which assists with viewing overhead objects (i.e., overhead traffic lights). My personal experience is that this is a problem with the top up.

It would appear that the LightInSight is a wide-angle lense of clear optical plastic (2in*7in). Has anyone tried this product? For $12.50, I guess you could toss it in the garbage if that's what it is but I would prefer not to go thru the trouble.

Ok, just limted use so far but a few observations:

1) It's smaller than I thought it would be (cresent-shaped, maybe ~9"x3").

2) Since I'm tall. I actually need to position it a distance from the top windshield gasket. I've moved it once now, almost touching the rear-view mirror and ~1.5-2" from the gasket.

3) I'd like a larger image. The Fresnel lens seems to be too wide-angle for my tastes. Less coverage angle would make a larger image but may not be as usable in a wide variety of vehcles. I can see the light overhead but it is small. Time and experience should help mitigate this feeling, I suspect.

4) The only link is http://www.lightinsight.com/ which has only basic info. Email with the seller had a quick response and there's an 800 number to call.

5) Total cost was $15.45, using a normal 1st class USPS envelope.

I spoke with Dave at LightInSight. In case someone wants to see what the product looks like, you can 1) check Car & Driver page 141, or 2) give me your e-mail address and I'll e-mail the picuture he scanned for me.

That is all.

I just received my LightInsight last week. The product is great for city driving with many overhead traffic lights.

Very slick looking product.
