Default Little project need help

Well i hit the dyno roughly a month or so ago and my turbonetics turbo was shooting oil so we stopped the run there...

And on the way home the engine started making a weird sound...And i already knew it was missing prestone at some point so its probably a head gasket

Heres the pics i finnaly took the time too open it up...Is it only the head gasket or can it be something elese? (when emptying the oil there was something close too 1L or prestone that flowed out along the oil)

Engine

Gasket top side

Gasket bottom side

yes.... head gasket blew on the TOP side (head side). Best to take the head to a machine shop and have them resurface it so its level. If you don't, you may blow another headgasket and do the work all over again. Most machine shops charge between $40-$60 USD

depends on the mileage i would also get new valve seals, and maybe some retainers.... just buy the whole headgasket kit comes with valve seals and all that good stuff.. then just pick up ap2 retainers unless u have an ap2

ya pick up the whole kit and re-do all the gaskets it's not that much extra and get the ap2 retainers while you have the head off... just for piece of mind.

Hey Christian, you should post this in the FI area. A lot of us guys in there can help you out since youre FI. I believe most people that are FI stay in the FI area and may not see this to help you out.

BTW, its hard to tell but it does look like the HG is blown. As stated previously, it would be wise to get the whole head freshened up since its off. New valve seals, retainers, etc and definitely get the head decked and checked over. Hope this helps.

One more thing to help you out too. Were you using the IP 3mm HG? I cant tell for sure in the pics or not but if you were, you can reuse it without buying a whole new gasket from IP. Just order a new OEM HG and pull the rivets and put the 3mm spacer back inbetween the two layers as you reinstall it back on the block. You dont have to rerivet the gasket back to the 3mm spacer either if you dont want to. This is how Ya at IP told me to do mine and I've done it a couple of times with no problems. Just trying to help you save a little money.

Slight change of shubject, but you should avoid using the brass "T" directly onto your block as seen in this photo (bottom right):

The engine vibration can cause the aluminum block to crack. Best practice is to place the "T" inline with the hose.
