Default Looking to change the diff fluid

Hey guys
So I've had my car 5yrs and put 10k miles on it and. Have never changed or necked the diff fluid.
The car is MY00 and now has 27k miles on it.

I remember before the site upgrade there was a DIY but I can't find.

Anyone know where it might be?
Anyone have any tips before I do this?
I always use Honda fluid but, is there something better out there that will help out the diff

There is no such thing as Honda diff fluid for the s2k, what you want is Amsoil Severe Gear 75w110 - which is the closest match to SAE 90 gear oil that Honda specs for our diff.

fyi 75w90 is thinner than SAE 90

my 2c

It's pretty easy to do, and shouldn't take much longer than 10 minutes once the car is jacked up. I suggest you buy a 23mm box end wrench for the fill plug. It is too tight of a space for a socket and ratchet head to fit. Also, if using a floor jack and stands, place the entire car on 4 jack stands to ensure that it is sitting level to get the correct amount of oil in the diff.

What i meant was i always go to honda for my motor oil and pick up honda genuine oil. Ondered if they have have HG diff oil

Any good step by step to getting the car on stands.
I usually put the jack under the jack points so I never use a stand, I know it s bad but I feel weird going to the front end and trying to find a spot

Also once the one side is up on stands(about a foot) and I start jacking up the other side what prevents the car from tilting up and sliding of the stands

diff has to be perfectly level... IE on 4 jack stands on a level spot... also, i recommend doing it yourself, as some honda dealers had seen all of 2 s2000s in their life, and i have heard plenty of stories of them putting crappy oils into our diffs.

My advice, Amsoil 75w110 for the diff, GM Synchromesh Friction Modified for the transmition, and i use valvoline 10w30 synpower for my engine... IMO its the best combo. oh yea, and DO IT YOURSELF... ive seen so many places over fill because they dont care, or under fill, i guarantee you that no one cares about your car more than you do.

You don't even need to jack the car up if you're skinny enough...

It will work, but the 75W-110 is closer to the old SAE 90 originally spec'd for our cars...
