losing to stock s2000?
ive got a 2002 with 23,000 miles. the mods that i have done are INJEN short ram intake, tanabe hyper exhuast, H&R springs, and 18" rims. me and a buddy of mine were messing around on the highway the other day and his his 00' with 30k miles was walking me pretty hard. now i know that the injen short ram is known to take away power but i have run consistant 14.2 quarter mile times with it. in the last 2 months i have gotten the rims lowered and exhuast but have not run in the quarter. my freind runs 14.6 in his stock. why all of a sudden am i getting walked on by him? is the rims and exhuast hurting me that bad? has something happend to my motor? anyone know anything that may be able to answer some questions?
Any weight differences between the two cars? (e.g., stereo equipment, fat-ass driver
)
The wheels probably have the largest impact of the things you listed, since they are probably considerably heavier than stock and have a higher moment of inertia (therefore harder to accelerate). Also, make sure you have the same outside diameter of your tires compared w/ stock. Larger diameters usually make it harder to accelerate, too.

Quarter mile times are more about the quality of the launch than they are about peak power. It is not unheard of for 2 stock S2000s to have differences in power of 15+ rwhp. That combined with your big wheels and short ram, it doesn't seem that surprising. Did you have more weight in the car? Every 13 lbs of additional weight is about like a 1 rwhp difference.
